The Libraries Of Nycos
Through the passage of time, literally hundreds of collections of documents have been gathered by scores of authors, students, teachers, and madmen. While the extended list of such would take hundreds of pages to detail, this section provides some insight into how, why, and the possible locations of the greatest and most extensive - and possibly the most dangerous - of these might be.
As with most categorical topics, the Essential forms of Libraries are expressed herein. Each article that is associated with that Library-type includes general topics that the Library might include, specific volumes known to be kept by that kind of Library, and any exclusive tomes associated with them. Additionally, if the locations of the particular Library type are known to exist, the article will include where they are and the Iteration with which they are known to have been accessible.
Personal Collections
From the adventuring groups of the present campaigns to the fabled Library of Dutefletcher Ling-Ling, the most colorful, eclectic, and diverse types of Libraries are those that are curated personally by the individual who has collected them.
National Archives
Countries, nations, and civilizations often seek to maintain their future values by holding onto the documentation that supports and substantiates their existence, ethics, and agenda. In some cases, these are expansive and open collections, curated by master book smiths, scholars, and scribes. In others, they are limited and somewhat revered, almost religious relics that hold a mystical and magical sway over those they serve. While many were obliterated by the Revening, there are isolated examples, such as Kandah's keep, that have actually survived the demise of the country they once served.Cultural Legacies
In isolation, the Great Societies of the world did their best to preserve the works that maintained their anchors to the past, and to create the means for those works to survive the horror that was the Revening. Among the Mortal populations, that was arguably nearly impossible, but the more Ancient of the First Folk did succeed, at least to some degree. As such, though the sources are skewed to support their own position, they do hold key knowledge of not only how the world works, but keys to how the crippling effects of the Revening magic can be countered to some extent.
